Why BookClub?

Art Opens Books. A place where readers of all ages gather to strengthen their relationship with the written word through art.

Why Bookworms?
Age Three to Kindergarten

BookWorms aims to support early literacy through the arts. It is a precursor to a KidsBookClub. BookWorms is a bright, inspirational, and safe environment in which to read, engage, converse, and create art.

Story time and art-making.

BookWorms has worked with literacy professionals to structure our early reader programs. Our age-appropriate literacy benchmarks are based on the Illinois Common Core Standards.

BookClub is many things. It is a place, a richer version of the traditional book club, an artist’s studio, a community and an experience. From the wall of books to the reading windowsill to the stairs painted with classic children’s book titles, every detail celebrates how reading a beloved book inspires art, creativity and new perspectives.

“We started BookClub because we wanted to cultivate a deeper experience with books for people. It’s where readers of all ages gather to strengthen their relationship with the written word through art,” says cofounder Amanda Love.

Readers are on taken a journey through discussions to explore imagery and emotion. Then they are given the tools to create art. Mediums can include book arts, printmaking, photography or textiles. There are programs for all ages, individuals and all different kinds of books and art processes.

Why Kids Book Club?
First –Twelfth grades

Kids BookClub is a social environment where your child can find and explore their love of books. We create thoughtful, artistic projects for your child to connect with the written word.

Read a book and make art.

The Kids BookClub program was designed with literacy professionals to structure programs for our young readers grades 1-5.

We created our age appropriate literacy benchmarks based on the Illinois Common Core Standards.

For grades 6-12 we are offering BookClub for groups.
