Many embroidery artists first project was on a tea towel. This course will carry on that tradition but with a modern Chicago twist. Students will learn the fundamentals of embroidery including how to stretch their fabric properly on a hoop, handle and select thread, at least 10 stitches, and other technical skills.
The course will be 3 hours total and split into 45 minute segments: 45 minutes per towel design and the last 45 minutes for free sew/time to ask questions.
14 DMC threads
3 tea towels
1 sewing hoop
pieces of Silky Solvy
In addition to these materials, each student will be given a zine reiterating tips they learn in class, instructional illustrations on each stitch, and various embroidery resources (stitching Instagram accounts, embroidery stores, online
The price for this course is $60/student. This price includes all the materials listed above, which can be taken
home by each student. I envision this as a starting kit for each student and by giving them the ability to take home
these materials, encourages them to continue exploring the art of embroidery.
